The International Space Station (ISS) is a large spacecraft that orbits Earth. The ISS was built in space over time. The first piece arrived in space in 1998, and the final piece was attached in 2011. Astronauts and Cosmonauts have been living at the ISS since 2000. The ISS is a place that allows people to do research in space to help us prepare for longer journeys across the stars.
