Educator Resources

Professional Development

SLCL Librarians are available to visit your school or department to review library resources that might be beneficial to them or their students and provide suggestions for integrating these resources into their curriculum. One on one appointments are also available. To schedule a professional development visit or one on one appointment, please fill out the forms linked below. These appointments work best when you provide as much detail as possible about what topics or help you would like to be covered. After submitting the form, one of SLCL's librarians will contact you with further questions and to begin the scheduling process. SLCL's librarians are experts in the library's resources, and are willing to work with you to develop a presentation that suits your needs as exactly as possible.

Professional Development Databases

SLCL has your professional development needs covered even if you are unable to schedule a visit from one of our librarians. The databases below offer ample opportunities to learn new technologies, skills, and to keep up on the latest educational research. All you need is your SLCL library card.

School & Classroom Visits

Are you having a Back to School Night, Community Picnic, Registration Day, or other type of event?

SLCL can support your school's community by hosting a table filled with resources or an activity.

The SLCL Reference Department wants to work with you to support your students educational needs. We can visit your classroom for a general introduction to library resources and services like the library catalog, tutoring, and standardized test prep databases.

Are your students working on a research project? SLCL has you covered there as well. We can provide research instruction as a supplement to your school's library services with a class the reinforces strong research habits and critical thinking.

SLCL will also provide classes on college prep and scholarships, teen entrepreneurship, and more. If you have an idea for something you want to offer, but aren't sure how to get there, let us know! We'll work with you to come up with a plan.

Educators can request books to supplement their collection on a specific topic(s) by requesting an Educator Bundle. Requests should be made at least two weeks in advance of when materials are needed. The quantity requested may be altered due to the availability of items in the system.
