What is the Slow Food Movment? The Slow Food Movement sprang to life in Rome, Italy in March 1986, when the opening of a fast food restaurant near the Spanish Steps sparked widespread national interest and protest. That arrival of a fast-food restaurant in a place so rich in history and culture convinced Carlo Petrini and the other founders of the movement that it was time to act, and so the Slow Food movement was born. They establish the Slow Food Manifesto with fourteen other countries. This movement has spread to many other aspects of life: Art, Librarianship, Music, Travel and much more. From www.slowfood.com: "Slow Food envisions a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet."
