This index lists personal names found in two French-language newspapers on microfilm in the History and Genealogy Department:

 

  • “Le Patriote” (The Patriot) was published in the 1870s and 1880s for the French-language population of “The West” and later for immigrants from Alsace-Lorraine in St. Louis, Missouri. Only issues from 1878, 1884, 1886, and 1887 survive.

 

 

 

  • “La Revue de l’Ouest” (The Review of the West) was a French-language newspaper published in 1854, and possibly other years, in St. Louis, Missouri. However the only existing copies that have been found are for 1854. This index lists names in the St. Louis news columns for 1854, the only year for which issues exist.
