Introduction

Trying to decide what kind of career you want can be exciting, confusing, and stressful. What are your interests? What are you good at? How much time and money do you want to spend on your training and education?

A good way to think about what kind of career you might like is to look at career clusters. A career cluster is a group of occupations that share skills, knowledge, and activities. It is a broad category that has lots of similar careers. There are 16 career clusters in the arts and communications, business and technology, industrial and engineering technology, health services, human services, and natural resources and agriculture.

If you find a career cluster that sounds like something you would enjoy, you can then consider a career pathway. A career pathway is a plan with the different steps toward becoming whatever it is you want to become. A career pathway includes the kind of education, training, and skills you need as well as the different types of jobs you might consider and how much money you can expect to make.

There are many different ways to reach your career goals, and the resources in this LibGuide can help you along your journey.
